It’s a special (and VERY rare) treat for me to have a Bordeaux Grand Cru Classé, especially from Pauillac; hence the reason I like going to tasting events so I can try other people’s bottles. Lol!
I had the Château d´Armailhac for the first time recently with some friends for my birthday, and it was gorgeous! So this château, located in Bordeaux’s left bank in the Pauillac région, is owned by the famous Rothschild family. Both the name Rothschild and Pauillac are world renown for their first growth (aka the most prestigious and top rated) Bordeaux wines: Château Mouton Rothschild and Château Lafite Rothschild. Château Latour is also situated in Pauillac.
Usually Pauillac wines are pricey, starting at $79 and up for a 750ml bottle. But Total Wine has this for under $40, which for a Pauillac, especially under the Rothschild name is insanely inexpensive. It’s a 2012, a good Bordeaux year. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cab Franc, and Petit Verdot. This wine is complex, with soft tannins and the finish is beautiful. Definitely a new favorite!
